The Nerd Show... Theme... Geek Chic!

Dennis and I met in 2007 over a cup of what we like to call "poo coffee." It's not exactly what you think it is, so let me explain. The  coffee is actually called Kopi Luak and it is a made from coffee berries that have been eaten by and passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet, which is a small rodent/animal. Mmmmm! Since our first date over "poo coffee," we have been inseparable. You will always find us laughing and being silly.

Dennis loves In-and-Out so naturally we wanted to have an In-and-Out Truck come to our wedding so we could provide late night snacks to our guests. However, since our venue was on the top (54th) floor of a high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles, we couldn't do it. I was determined to have In-and-Out at our wedding, so I thought a surprise groom cake would be a cute and nerdy way of giving him the Double-Double burger, fries, and drink he originally wanted! :)  He had no idea and was completely surprised when he saw it!

I planned our wedding for 150 guests in 6 months, so time was not on our side! I thought finding a wedding dress in such a short amount of time was going to be a nightmare, but it was surprisingly easier than I anticipated! The dress was a Vera Wang gown from her 2007 collection. I found it on my first day of looking for wedding dress. It was the third dress I tried on and I immediately knew it was THE dress because it fit perfectly!

We chose the City Club as our venue because we live in Los Angeles and we really enjoy downtown. It also fit with our theme of "Geek Chic" because it offered a chic and modern atmosphere with amazing 360 degree views of Los Angeles and Hollywood. We wanted to keep the high-rise/cityscape theme throughout the wedding, so we incorporated it in our wedding programs, menus, and table numbers.

To continue with our Geek Chic theme, our letter-pressed invitations were custom-made with our very own Nerdy Robot! Dennis wears black-framed glasses, so we thought a robot with glasses would be a perfect image that captures who we are. We chose a robot because the term "Nerd Show" came from my mom dancing and doing the Robot, and since we consider ourselves to be nerds, we thought we would take the robot and add our own flavor to it by adding glasses.

We also love Uglydolls, which is why we chose to have cuff links made of our favorite Uglydolls and we also put two Uglydolls on our traditional wedding cake. The very first birthday gift Dennis gave me was an Uglydoll and when he proposed to me, he shipped 3 Uglydolls to our hotel suite so when we arrived, our room was covered with rose petals and Uglydolls! It's been Uglydoll-mania ever since! I have over 13 Uglydolls! (Yes, I admit, I am addicted to them!)

Our wedding was a lot of fun, but the most memorable part of the evening was when we played a wedding game. Our close friends emceed the wedding, so they blew up our baby pictures and placed them on yard sticks. Dennis and I sat back-to-back and we each had 2 yard sticks, one with my face and one with his face. We were asked questions, like "Who will be the first person to fall asleep tonight?" and we had to answer the question by raising the face of the person we thought would fall asleep first. If we did not answer the question correctly, someone from the audience would have to come up and hula hoop as long as possible, while we had to hold a kiss for as long as he/she hula hooped. Thankfully, we know each other well, so we only got a few wrong, but our friends who came to hula hoop were really good at it! We had SO much fun and our guests were laughing the entire time!
