It’s November which means its Spring Racing Carnival time of year, and of course it’s all about the horses, jockeys, hats, frocks, fashion & feathers… so why not incorporate those elements into your wedding theme? When you think “Spring Racing Carnival”… think colour, contrast, vibrant and stylish.
Fun Theme Elements
- Incorporate the “track” with a signature drink…. Wheatgrass Shots served with a segment of orange.
- Out with the red carpet! Try using a coloured carpet like orange.
- Instead of place cards use Personalised Miniature Horseshoes.
- Unique Bottonholes for the boys - Melbourne Cup Racing Pin (proceeds go to charity).
- Use Hay Bales with cushions as seating.
- Have a colourful signature drink - Champagne Cocktails (bright and bubbly).
The major trend for 2009 Spring Carnival style is a return to 1950’s glamour in combination with modern design.
2009 colours for the Spring Carnival scene will show strongly in orange, purples, red and greens – why not be daring a go for a colour combo? Base colour palettes of crisp white, ivory, silver and cream will also shine through.
Traditions
- The lucky horseshoe is given to the bride as she leaves the church.
- The horseshoe is ‘u’ shaped to ‘hold’ the luck forever.
- Ribbons are hung to the open ends of the horseshoe to ensure that it is never turned upside down which would cause the luck of the marriage to spill out.
Meanings
- Blacksmiths were thought to possess magical, mystical power for being able to create useful items out of iron and fire.
- Iron and fire comes from the earth, they are earthly elements.
- Horses are mystical animals.
Ladies don’t forget to protect your heels with a fantastic product that will keep you from sinking into the grass!
